Is there a Hybrid Car in Your Near Future?
Article by Rochel Radick
All over the world people’s financial systems are struggling, so it is to be expected that they might be upset with the high prices being charged for fuel. Outside of that, consumers are also upset about global warming’s damaging environmental effects. More and more, people want a car to drive that uses less gas and doesn’t contribute to global warming.
The solution might lie with hybrids, though many of us remain more than a little skeptical. The first factor that is needed is to fully understand what a hybrid is, and how it works. The first thing that jumps out at you happens to be the hybrid cars work with a pair of two different types of engines. One engine burns fuel, something with which all of us are quite familiar. The other engine is actually an electric motor that works by using stored electricity to run the car. So, how does this permit the car to operate more efficiently, saving fuel and emissions?
When driving, you find yourself not moving often, like at stop signs and lights. Nevertheless, your engine continues to be idling and burning up gas. But if your car used up no gasoline while the engine idles, just think of the fuel cost savings over time.
The one thing the majority of people never liked about hybrids is that they constantly needed to be plugged in. However, with state-of-the-art technology, hybrid cars can recharge their batteries without having to be plugged into an outlet. The electricity required to recharge the batteries is created by simply running the engine. Hybrid automobiles utilize a built in computer to decide whether the gasoline engine or the electric motor needs to be running at any given moment. This allows the car to burn up no gas at all when standing still or even traveling at low speed. The hybrids are also able to perform better, unlike the previous hybrids that didn’t have much power.
Hybrids are now in significant demand, because of the advanced technologies involved. Because hybrids aren’t using any fuel while they are idling in traffic jams, they are not emitting toxic substances, therefore not adding to pollution problems. They not merely help with global warming by emitting less pollution, but hybrids also provide for great gas economy by burning less fuel per mile. Also, you will get a government tax break if you buy a hybrid. So, buying a hybrid will certainly save on taxes, as well as fuel costs.
You might already know if you have ever investigated prices, regular gas burning cars are less expensive than hybrids. Regrettably, too many people can still not really afford a hybrid, but we’re confident that as technology improves the prices will come down.
